Dr. Meghan Ferriter is an anthropologist and interdisciplinary researcher leading community engagement and advising best practice as the Project Coordinator for the Smithsonian Transcription Center. Before entering this role, she explored knowledge-building and communication in communities of interest as a Research Associate with Smithsonian Institution Archives (2013). Dr. Ferriter’s primary research interests focus on understanding the ways groups learn and communicate using technology, media content, and cultural practices. Trained as an anthropologist and cultural historian, her work has explored the extent of change in mediated sport discourse, nationalism and collective identity, as well as online communities of practice.
